Wow, that’s just fucking neglect. Absolutely disgusting to let an older dog in such condition, the nails are really overgrown too

As a LVT it’s easy to judge the pet guardians and blame them for being neglectful, shameful, etc. but I’ve realized many clients are unaware or uneducated about their pet’s need for prophylactic dental care. It’s our responsibility in vet med to educate clients. I’ve seen FAR worse mouths, which of course doesn’t excuse this poor dog’s case. I dunno, it’s hard to give people the benefit of the doubt.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXPLAINING EVERYTHING!! I work at a clinic and I’m trying to better my skills and knowledge so I can be a better assistant and it helps to know the names of the tools and how they’re used and what they’re used for so I can better follow the dentals I assist on. My vet is great but sometimes it’s easier to study extra outside work and ask more specifics during or after the next dental I see. Thank you!! I have some great notes on tools now!!
