I have one of those heated airers and I use it with a dehumidifier nearby to suck all the moisture out of the air, the clothes dry quicker and you’re less likely to get mould spores in the house.

I leave much more space between clothes. I always leave one line free and use 2 rods per t-shirt. I have much larger, foldable towers. But it is true if it’s damp at home clothes hardly dry.

The common complaint in reviews of these products is that they simply aren’t worth the electricity, as the heat they produce is too low and too localised to make a huge difference. The covered drying racks are apparently better, but still take around 2 hours (and around £1) to dry clothes.
If you already have the heating on – and most people will be at this time of year (albeit more conservatively than normal) – then it’s probably best to just use your normal airer. A dehumidifier is a good idea with either method, although drying more slowly will reduce the likelihood of damp, simply because the moisture is being released into the house more steadily.
If your clothes are stinking then use an antibacterial/anti mildew ‘conditioner’ in the washing machine, as the smell is just small amounts of mildew starting to form. Even if my washing takes three days to dry it never smells. Aldi do a Fabulosa laundry cleanser that prevents this mildew build up, so even though I wash on a completely cold wash I don’t have an issue.

Try use a mini fan to dry your clothes or a humidifier ! It works internationally should work in the UK too!
