What about solar panels for net zero option. We r about to build smaller home in zone 4 and are wanting to put solar on the ground. Net zero is available, our on grid power source is set up, $30 a month.

Is this system available in the UK? The “gasoline”, which is, presumably, “petrol” here is circa £1.50 per litre and was edging over £2.00 during the Plandemic. A US gallon works out at £5.68, or $6.83. We’re considering adding some solar, but I wouldn’t do it without battery back-up – pointless without. However, there isn’t a great deal of sunshine in Scotland and I’m sceptical that the assurances that you only need daylight aren’t more than a scam. We also have limitations on how much petrol can be stored in, say, a garage, which means that, when the supply of oil trickles out (being reserved for the “elites” for their gas-guzzling automobiles, private jets and super yachts), we are back to square one. I’m certainly going to be encouraging our Dear Leaders to re-invest in nuclear power plants, the greenest of all the options, especially now the “waste” can be recycled over and over again, but I’m not holding out much hope, because the plan is not to provide “energy for all” – it’s to kill off as many of us as possible and the cold certainly is pretty good at doing that. Thanks for providing food for thought on the energy front.

Why wouldn’t you do both???? Solar and a backup battery????? Why pay double for electric from the electric company when solar is half to a third the price?????

This would be fine for natural disasters, where you might not have power for a week or so, but sounds like it is basically a big battery, and in areal SHTF situation, you will be out of fuel for a generator pretty soon.
